I cannot BELIEVE that I am writing about lessons learned in 2021. Didn’t it just start?! It’s been such a fast year and action-packed.
It’s been a big year of learning for me and I wanted to share some of the lessons that I’ve learned. Of course, I always want to hear from you – what were your big 2021 wins and lessons?
(Also – they’re 100% Hallmark lessons / cheesy and trite sayings…it’s that time of year when there are a lot on TV so might as well lean into it).
1. You miss 100% of the shots that you don’t take
I am not always going to get it right and that is okay.
That is a SUPER hard thing for me to get past. I am a big perfectionist and it has really held me back. There are a lot of things that I hadn’t tried or hadn’t pushed because I was afraid to fail.
But it’s okay – that’s how I’m going to grow and learn.
If I hadn’t let go of that perfectionism, I would never have launched Kickstart Your Copy. I would never have gone after more AMAZING clients and would never have you reading this blog. So…it’s been totally worth it!
2. No man is an island
Okay, truth time…I did not realize how lonely it was to be an entrepreneur.
I really wanted to be able to talk about all the silly little things that come up when you have zero colleagues. A big game-changer for me was finding a group of awesome ladies who are moms, entrepreneurs, and generally amazing!
It has been great finding my business besties!
3. If you fail to plan, you plan to fail
One lesson that I needed to learn BIG time this year was that I needed a plan!
From a broad plan about the direction, I wanted to go into a day-by-day plan on how I was going to manage my time.
What I’m looking forward to for 2022
So as we say goodbye to 2021, I am excited for all of the great things that I have planned for 2022.
Expect to see more templates to help you write more, more tips to make it easier and more helpful workshops. There may even be a podcast in the works. In short, expect more Mel!
